Memphis Redbirds News Release

Memphis, Tenn. - Rain may have shortened the game, but it couldn't cool the Memphis bats as the Redbirds beat the New Orleans Zephyrs 9-4 in eight innings Friday in Port St. Lucie, FL, extending their win streak to four games.

Redbirds hitters wasted no time against New Orleans, affiliate of the New York Mets, scoring two runs in the first inning and two more in the second en route to the 9-4 victory. Six 'Birds had at least two hits, including Travis Hanson, who finished the game with three hits, and Nick Stavinoha, who knocked a pair of two-run homers and drove in five RBI. Brendan Ryan, Rick Ankiel and Ryan Christianson all finished the game with two hits. Mike McCoy, along with Ryan, finished the game with two RBI.

The quick offense was more than enough for Redbirds' starter Chris Lambert, who allowed one run over four innings and posted the win. The game was called in the eighth inning due to rain.

The 'Birds return home to Jupiter tomorrow to host the Albuquerque Isotopes (Florida Marlins).
