Legislation Filed For Sounds Ballpark Deadline Extension

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Legislation for an extension request that would grant the Nashville Sounds and Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse until October to complete financing and design work for their proposed downtown ballpark and associated mixed use development on the site of the old Thermal Transfer plant was filed late this morning with city officials.

The Sounds, who haven't signed the legislation, confirm that they have not yet reached a joint development agreement with Struever Bros., which is a requirement before the team officially signs off on the legislation that would formally request the extension.

The team has until 4 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon to sign the legislation, a deadline that would permit the extension proposal to be placed on the Metro Council's April 3 meeting agenda.

"We continue to pursue a joint development agreement that will ensure that the entire development, including the ballpark, will become a reality with the extension," said Sounds general manager Glenn Yaeger. "We hope to reach that agreement before the 4 p.m. Tuesday deadline so that we can sign the legislation asking for the extension."
