Owen Sound Attack News Release

Former Attack netminder Jordan Binnington had to wait years for an opportunity in the show, but since arriving in St. Louis he's showing no signs of slowing things down.

The Richmond Hill native is very familiar to Attack fans, having led Owen Sound to an OHL Championship in the 2010-11 season, winning the honour of most outstanding goalie at the 2011 Memorial Cup, and winning Goaltender of the Year in 2013 while leading the OHL in shutouts. Despite his success at the junior level, it took him a while to reach the ranks of the NHL. With stops in Peoria, Chicago, Kalamazoo, Providence and San Antonio, Binnington dedicated time and effort at every level of the minors until finally arriving in St. Louis earlier this season.

In his first career NHL start, Binnington made 25 saves and shutout the Philadelphia Flyers. In 14 starts this season, he's gone 12-1-1 with 4 shutouts, posting a 1.58 GAA and a 9.37 SV%. The only other netminder since 1987 to have 10+ wins and a GAA lower than 1.60 in his first 17 career starts? Another Owen Sound Alum, Brent Johnson. One final piece of Owen Sound trivia: Binnington is the first St. Louis rookie to have 2 shutouts of 30+ saves since Curtis Sanford.

Now 25 years old, the player affectionately known by Attack fans as 'Binner' may be an AHL veteran but now looks destined for a long NHL career.

For those looking for more to read about his incredible start, Jordan's garnered plenty of national attention with many stories written about his success this season.
