Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (13-17) fell to the Hartford Yard Goats 10-9 on Friday night at Mirabito Stadium, while playing as the Cóndores de Binghamton as part of Minor League Baseball's Copa de la Diversión event series. The Ponies were once again led by Jose Peroza, who smacked two doubles and drove in three runs in the game. Binghamton also got a solid start from Jose Chacin, who tossed six innings with four strikeouts while allowing three earned runs.
In the bottom of the fourth, with the Rumble Ponies leading 3-2, Rowdey Jordan led off with a double. Matt Rudick came up two batters later and hit an RBI single to make it 4-2. Tanner Murphy followed Rudick with a walk and Peroza followed Murphy with a two-run double to extend Binghamton's lead to 6-2. The Ponies tacked on another run when Peroza stole third and scored on an error, which made it 7-2.
Hartford (16-14) chipped away at its deficit with five-unanswered runs across the sixth and seventh innings, headlined by a two-run homer from Hunter Goodman, two-run double from Bret Boswell, and a game-tying RBI double from Zac Veen.
With the game tied 7-7, Jordan scorched a line drive to left field to drive in Agustin Ruiz for a sacrifice fly, which gave Binghamton an 8-7 lead. The Yard Goats tacked on three more runs in the ninth on a go-ahead three-run homer from Bladimir Restituyo, which made Hartford's lead 10-8.
Binghamton threatened in the ninth, as Luke Ritter scored on an RBI groundout from Jordan to make it 10-9. For the second-straight night, the Rumble Ponies left the tying run stranded on third base in the final inning.
