Billings Pitchers Lead Way as Mustangs Take Game 1 of Series

OREM - The Billings Mustangs brought their Pioneer League leading 4.10 ERA into town to shut down the hot Orem Owlz batters, taking the first game of the series 5-4. Starter, Jacob Constante, pitched an excellent outing for the Mustangs going 5 innings giving up just four hits and two earned. He picked up his first win of the season.
The middle of the Owlz lineup struggled tonight with Jared Foster, Taylor Ward and Hutton Moyer going a combined 0-13 from the plate. On the other side for the Mustangs it was their 5-6-7 hitters who led the way. Catcher, Tyler Stephenson, went 3-4 picking up an RBI to go along with two runs. Reydel Medina added to his team leading RBI total knocking in one run to give him 14 on the season.
Orem made the game interesting in the bottom of the 9th as they tried to stay alive. Tyler Herget came in for the save and walked the leadoff hitter Jeffrey Boehm. Survance Jr hit a double to put two runners in scoring position for the Owlz with only one out. Fletcher then grounded out to bring home Boehm and with the tying run on 2nd base Foster proceeded to fly out to center for the final out.
Pitcher, Nathan Bates, picked up the loss going two innings and giving up four hits and three earned. The Owlz moved to 13-7 on the year but still have a chance to bounce-back with three games remaining in this inter-division matchup.
