GREAT FALLS, Mont. (July 7, 2015) - The Great Falls Voyagers committed a season-high five errors, but strong pitching once again helped them to claim a series-opening victory over the Idaho Falls Chukars Tuesday night at Centene Stadium.

The Chukars (6-14) got on the board first, scoring two unearned runs in the first, against Great Falls starter Evin Einhardt (1-1).

Great Falls (10-6) then took the lead for the first time in the second. Joxelier Garcia doubled in the Voyagers first run of the night, giving the catcher his first RBI of the campaign. One batter later, Victor Velasquez took Chukars starter Todd Eaton (1-2) deep for his first professional homer to give Great Falls a lead they did not relinquish.

The Voyagers then came back with another three-run frame in the fourth. Johan Cruz got things started, doubling in a run for one of his career-high four hits on the night. Antonio Rodriguez followed later with an RBI double of his own, collecting an RBI for the third straight game, before a wild pitch brought the final tally of the inning home.

The six runs were plenty for the Voyager staff, led by Einhardt. After allowing the two first inning runs, the righty settled in, retiring 10 Chukars in a row at one point. The Battle Creek, Mich., native went six on the night, earning his second quality start of 2015 and first win as a starter.

Ryan Hinchley followed with a zero in the seventh, then Danny Dopico came on and got the final six outs for Great Falls, surrendering a two-out run in the eighth.

Great Falls answered the Idaho Falls run in the eighth with one of their own in the home half, as Dante Flores put a cap to the night's scoring with a sacrifice fly.

The Voyagers and Chukars continue their series Tuesday night at Centene Stadium. Right-hander Matt Ball (0-1, 4.60) will get the starting nod for Great Falls, while Idaho Falls will counter with fellow righty Carter Hope (1st start). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., and coverage will begin at 6:45 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
