Biggio and the 'Cats score three in the 9th to beat Fightins

(Manchester, NH) - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (15-7) scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Reading Fightin Phils (8-14) 5-4 on Tuesday evening. Fightins reliever Luke Leftwich (0-3) was charged with all three runs and took the loss.

Fightins first baseman Kyle Martin hit his third home run of the season in the top of the second inning off Fisher Cats starter Nick Tepesch to give Reading a 1-0 lead. Reading followed with back-to-back RBI doubles off Tepesch in the top of the third inning by Damek Tomscha and Zach Green to extend the lead to 3-0.

The Fisher Cats got a run off Ranger Suarez in the bottom of the fourth inning for their first run of the game. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. scored on a fielder's choice by Harold Ramirez. New Hampshire added another run off Suarez as Bo Bichette scored on a sacrifice fly by Guerrero Jr.

Suarez allowed just two runs off five hits with three walks and five strikeouts in six innings for his second win of the season. Edgar Garcia entered the game to pitch in relief of Suarez in the bottom of the seventh inning. Garcia would pitch two scoreless innings before handing the ball to Leftwich in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Brandon Bednar added an insurance run to give the Fightins a 4-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning. He hit a RBI double off Dusty Isaacs to score Green.

Cavan Biggio hit a two-run home run off Leftwich in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at 4-4. Seth McGarry would relieve Leftwich in the inning. Andrew Guillotte scored on a wild pitch to win the game for the Fisher Cats.
