Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- Defending champion Lakeshore salvaged a split with the Bullfrogs beating Green Bay 3-1. The Bullfrogs dropped to 2-3 on the campaign.
On another windy day, Green Bay received more excellent pitching from their starting staff. Right-hander, Parker Hamilton (Florida Gulf Coast) tossed five innings allowing just one earned run.
After tallying four runs in the first inning in the 12-7 victory last night at Kapco Park, the offense got off to another lead in the first inning of the Sunday night game.
Illinois State Redbird, Caleb Ratzman, flashed brilliant speed on the base paths stealing second, then third after he slid a bunt single down the line. Ratzman scored on a rare Bachar wild pitch, and the Bullfrogs took the 1-0 lead for their fifth different starting pitcher.
The 6'2", 218lbs. hurler, Hamilton, carved up consecutive 1-2-3 innings in innings one and two, but subsequently faltered in part to errors behind him in the third inning.
Chinooks catcher, Aaron Rzucidlo (Georgia), bashed a lead off single, followed by a dropped fielder's choice off the bat of Jake Kolaskinski (UW-Parkside), and Rich Rodriguez (Cincinnati) walked to load the bases. An RBI double from the centerfield, Drake Parker (Vanderbilt), gave the Chinooks the 2-1 edge. Greg Deichmann's sacrifice fly (LSU) extended the lead to 3-1.
It would stay that way.
The pitching made innings four through nine a briskly played affair. The pitching bill, bullpens, and defenses took strong root to the very end.
After five strong innings from Parker Hamilton, the Bullfrogs relief crew of Tyler McDowell (Washington State), Tommy Strunc (Creighton), and Alex Martinez (De Anza College) each threw a scoreless inning.
It would not be enough to make up ground against the dominant right-handed slab-man, Lake Bachar (Wisconsin-Whitewater). He cooled off the Bullfrogs bats with 10 strikeouts and just one walk primarily using just a fastball that was clocked in the upper 80s. Bachar managed six innings with just over 80 pitches, and raked in the win.
Lefty Joe Stoll (Ohio State) completed the 3-1 win for the Chinooks with a two-inning save. A two-out double from Jack Strunc (Washington State) was met by a hard lineout from Franco Guardascione (Jacksonville) to right-field to end the rally.
Skip Handelsman's team goes back to Joannes Stadium for a 6:35PM game against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Monday's "Princess Night." Kids ages 12 and under receive free admission for wearing a costume to the game.
Group tickets, season tickets and 7-game packages are on sale now. The Bullfrogs off-season hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. For more information please visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com.
