
Big Snake becomes 14th IceHogs sketer to receive AHL call-up

Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Steve Martinson announced on Thursday that the United Hockey League club has loaned rookie winger Robin Big Snake to the IceHogs American Hockey League affiliate Milwaukee Admirals. Big Snake is the 14th IceHogs player to get loaned to the AHL this season and 12th player loaned to Milwaukee.
Big Snake has recorded 27g-19a-46pts during his first pro campaign and currently leads the UHL with 423 penalty minutes and 26 major penalties. The call-up to the AHL is Big Snake's first in his young career. Prior to coming to Rockford in October, the Siksika Nation, Alberta native attended Detroit Red Wings (NHL) rookie camp and training camp before heading to the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) training camp.
Currently, defenseman Nathan Lutz, who began the season with Rockford, is playing for the Admirals. Other IceHogs players currently playing in the AHL include winger Billy Tibbetts and defenseman Bob Nardella for the Chicago Wolves.
The Admirals are currently in first place in the AHL's West Division and are looking to wrap up the division title this weekend. Milwaukee leads the Houston Aeros by two standings points entering the final weekend of play. The Admirals will host the Wolves on Friday night at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. Milwaukee will then conclude its season on Saturday in Grand Rapids.
Also receiving promotions this season for Rockford include Corey Hessler, Greg Barber, Preston Mizzi, Jason Notermann, Matt Gens, Dan Boeser, Ronnie Vogel, Michel Robinson, Chaz Johnson and Evgueni Nourislamov. Big Snake is the fourth IceHogs rookie to play in the AHL this season and 14 players have now been loaned a total of 27 times to the AHL.
Next Home Game: Friday, April 14 vs. Flint Generals. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Rockford begins the final week of the 2005-06 regular season with a contest against the Flint Generals at the Rockford MetroCentre. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive IceHogs Poster #6 in a series of seven courtesy of Medicine Man, Johnson Press, Jim Orlando Photography, Pepsi and the Rockford Register Star.
Saturday, April 15 vs. Muskegon Fury. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The final regular season game of the season for the IceHogs as the Fury return to Rockford. It's Fan Appreciation Day with the IceHogs on Saturday and the Hogs will present the 2005-06 Season Awards prior to face-off.
