BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - The Sugar Land Skeeters surrendered a six-spot in the bottom of the seventh inning, proving to be the downfall in an 8-4 loss to the Somerset Patriots. The loss pushing the losing streak to a season-high six-games and moves the Skeeters below to the .500 mark at 28-29.

The Skeeters struck quickly in the top of the first following a single and a double from Chris Wallace and Patrick Palmeiro, respectively, breaking the scoring seal. Palmeiro came around to score on an Amadeo Zazueta single to right, giving the Skeeters a 2-0 lead.

Somerset responded to the Skeeters pair of runs by striking for a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. Thomas Neal doubled with two outs and came in to score on a two-run blast from Michael Burgess, tying the game at two.

Not to be outdone, however, Sugar Land scored in similar fashion in the top of the second. Wallace belted a two-out double and Palmeiro crushed a monster home-run to reclaim the lead for Sugar Land.

The Patriots were held in check until the seventh inning. Three-straight singles from Mat Gamel, Robert Andino and Nate Spears opened the seventh before things started to unravel for Sugar Land. Adam Donachie lifted a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Gamel and cutting the Skeeters' lead in half. An RBI groundout from Jonny Tucker tied the game, but with two outs, reliever Derrick Loop appeared to have things under control. After four-singles and a double, the Patriots had put the game out of reach, giving Somerset an 8-4 cushion.

The Skeeters were unable to mount any offense in the final two frames, dropping their sixth-straight contest, 8-4.
