Norfolk Tides News Release
The Buffalo Bisons plated five ninth inning runs to top the Tides 11-6 Friday night at Harbor Park.
Norfolk trailed the contest 6-0 after four innings, but fought back with two runs in the fifth inning, one more in the sixth and three more in the seventh to knot the score at 6-6.
The Bisons decisive rally started against reliever Mike Hinckley (0-1), who was making his first appearance with the Tides after being called up from Double-A Bowie earlier Friday. Hinckley started the inning by allowing two hits and a walk to load the bases before forcing in the go-ahead run with a walk to Russ Adams. Cla Meredith was brought in and struck out Mike Cervenak for the first out of the frame, but Valentino Pascucci lined a bases-clearing double into left-center field to break open the game and give the Bisons a 10-6 lead.
Matt Angle led Norfolk's offense with four hits and an RBI in his first game at Harbor Park, while Jeff Salazar added three hits and an RBI. Brandon Snyder also belted a solo homer for Norfolk, which dropped its third straight game.
Buffalo's offense was paced by a pair of former Tides, as Justin Turner connected for three hits and an RBI while J.R. House added two hits and two runs batted in.
The Tides and Bisons will continue their four-game set on Saturday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15. Jake Arrieta (6-2, 1.77) will take the mound for Norfolk against right-hander Dylan Owen (1-1, 4.76).
