
Big Innings Send Midland over RoughRiders

FRISCO, TEXAS - The Midland RockHounds scored four runs in the third inning, six runs in the seventh, and 11 runs in the ninth on their way to a 21-4 victory over the Frisco RoughRiders on Saturday night in front of 9,436 fans at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Zach Cone collected two RBI for Frisco on a two-for-four night at the plate.
Trailing Frisco, 3-0, Midland hit around in the third frame. Colin Walsh worked a bases loaded walk and Anthony Aliotti followed with a sacrifice fly to score Beau Taylor. Chad Oberacker reached home on a throwing error and Jaycob Brugman walked to score the fourth run of the inning and put the Hounds on top 4-3.
Midland sent 11 batters to the plate in the seventh, notching six hits and six runs. Renato Nunez knocked a RBI-double, Brugman scored two on a double, and Josh Whitaker capped the frame with a three-run homer out to left to put the RockHounds on top 10-3.
17 batters came to the plate in the ninth inning for Midland. The RockHounds scored 11 runs on 11 hits, including a grand slam from Nunez to go up 21-4. Nunez finished the game with six RBI, including five in the final frame.
Frisco jumped on top in the first inning. With the bases loaded, Trever Adams hit a sac-fly to score Guilder Rodriguez and Cone followed with a run-scoring double to give the Riders a 2-0 advantage.
The Riders added a run in the second. Ryan Cordell led off the frame with a triple to left field. Luis Mendez drove him in a sac-fly to center field and Frisco went ahead 3-0.
Connor Sadzeck (1-1) struggled in his final start of 2015 for the Riders. The right-hander allowed four runs over three innings in the losing effort. Midland's Junior Mendez (1-0) picked up the win in his Double-A debut. He allowed three runs over five innings on two hits and five free passes.
Frisco added a run in the eighth inning. Cone collected his second RBI of the night with a single to make it a 10-4 ballgame.
The RoughRiders send RHP Jose Leclerc to the mound in Sunday night's contest. Midland counters with LHP Dillon Overton in the 6:05 first pitch. The first 2,000 kids 12 and under in attendance will receive a free RoughRiders slate blue jersey and fans can stay after the game for a spectacular fireworks show!
