
Big Innings Lead to a Big 8-2 Tourist's Win

Rome, GA - The Asheville Tourists defeated the Rome Braves tonight 8-2 in front of 3,001 fans at State Mutual Stadium in game one of a four game series.
Ross Heffley led off the fourth inning with a triple to deep right center field and after Kyle Kubitza reached on an error by Jose Rivera to score Heffley, Robby Hefflinger followed by reaching on an error committed by Taylor Featherston to plate Kubitza. The Tourists answered in the bottom of the inning by scoring four runs highlighted by David Kandilas' two RBI triple to make it a 4-2 ball game. The Braves didn't plate another run in the game as the Tourists added one run in the sixth, one in the eighth, and two in the ninth to secure the 8-2 victory.
Vianney Mayo (3-3) was victorious as he pitched 6.2 innings and only allowed one earned run on six hits while striking out four Rome batters. Ryan Weber (5-5) was tagged for the loss. Weber was hit hard in his six innings of work, allowing five runs on nine hits including a solo home run by Harold Riggins.
