
Big inning propels Scrappers

Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
The Valley Cats scored in the top of the first on Monday night when David Flores delivered an RBI single. However, the Scrappers came back in the bottom of the second on a RBI double by Robby Alcombrack and after two it was tied at one.
The Valley Cats added two run in the third and one in the fifth and took a 4-1 lead going to the bottom of the fifth. In the fifth the Scrappers scored five runs, keyed by a 2 RBI single by Cord Phelps and a RBI single by Jeremie Tice and after five it was 6-4 Scrappers.
Relief pitching for both teams settled in and started putting up zeros on the scoreboard and after eight it was still 6-4 Scrappers. In the ninth the Valley Cats threatened putting two on, but could not score and the Scrappers ended their loosing streak with a 6-4 win.
Scrapper reliever Brad Hinkle worked the last two innings, striking out four and recorded his first save of the season.
