Amarillo Dillas News Release
AMARILLO, TX - Amarillo Dillas batters put a hurt on the Laredo Broncos on Sunday night, led by Alberto Cruz's four RBIs with a homerun and Rob Recuenco's 4-4, three RBI day for a 16-5 win over the Broncos in front of a record-setting crowd of 8,012 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
Dillas starter Richard Jessup (3-3) got the win, allowing five runs off eight hits, getting his second win against the Broncos this season. Laredo starter Jeff Jamnik (2-2) got the loss, allowing eight runs and nine hits in three-and-a-third innings. Dillas infielder Rob Recuenco went 4-4 with three RBI and two runs in the effort.
Laredo took a first inning lead as Michael Murphy doubled and scored on a DJ Dixon RBI single, but Amarillo responded in the second. Stephen Douglas hit a one-out single while Cruz sent his team-leading tenth homer of the season over the left-center field wall for a 2-1 Dillas lead.
The Broncos retook the lead in the third as Doug Thennis walked, Ryan Flynn singled and both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Murphy hit an RBI single to score Thennis, while Flynn and Murphy scored on a Dixon two-RBI double for a 4-2 Laredo lead.

Jones stepped in for the second time and hit a sacrifice fly to score De La Garza for an 8-4 lead.
Laredo's Nick Mahin hit a solo homerun in the sixth and loaded the bases with one out, but Dillas reliever Chris Ingoglia got a strikeout and a groundout to end the inning without the Broncos scoring additional runs and kept the Dillas ahead 8-5.
Amarillo added four more in the seventh as Jones, Douglas and Cruz walked to load the bases, while Recuenco hit a two-RBI single to score Jones and Douglas, while pinch-runner Ralph Roberts and Recuenco scored on an error for a 12-5 Amarillo advantage.
