The Laredo Broncos announce the Players of the Week for weeks 8 and 9.
Week 8 - Jeff Jamnik (Starting Pitcher)
Week 9 - D.J. Dixon (DH)
9th Week Laredo Broncos Player of the Week - D.J. DIXON
In the 9th week, DH/Catcher D.J. Dixon batted an amazing .560 batting average with a .593 On Base Percentage. He had 1 homer and 9 Runs Batted In with 0 strikeouts.
He is batting .417 for the season.
D.J. Dixon joins the ULB and the Broncos for the first time in his career. Recorded a 40 game hitting streak while attending San Jacinto College in 2003. Signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Francisco Giants in 2004. Played in the Giants organization for two years before moving to independent baseball. In six years in professional baseball has a career .309 BA in 263 games. To go along with the batting average, Dixon had 55 doubles, 17 HR's, and has only struck out 78 times in 771 at bats.

8th Week Laredo Broncos Player of the Week - Jeff Jamnik
In the 8th week, Pitcher Jeff Jamnik threw an amazing 15 innings, giving up only 2 earned runs, getting 2 wins with a 1.20 ERA. He also had 18 strikeouts.
Jeff Jamnik is a right handed pitcher, 6-5, 240 pounds. Jamnik joins the Laredo Broncos after a brief stint in Laredo in 2009. He pitched in just three games and made two starts for the Broncos last season. Jamnik enters his third professional season with a combined record of 1-2 and an ERA of 4.96 in just 67.2 IP. He is 2-1 with a 2.94 ERA this season.
