Bick's Big Night Helps Champions Down Capitales
July 18, 2018 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Ottawa Champions News Release
OTTAWA - INF Daniel Bick's four-RBI night propelled the Ottawa Champions to a series victory over the Quebec Capitales Wednesday night, downing the Can-Am League's second best team 9-4.
Bick's four ribbies came in the form of two base hits, driving in runs as part of crucial four-run innings for the Champions in the third and sixth.
Champions manager Hal Lanier was also quick to highlight the performance of his starting pitcher.
"Well, again, we got another great performance from Jordan (Kurokawa)," he said. "We also had a lot of offensive chances to score, and we did."
Ottawa knocked nine hits on the day, but also were able to capitalize when they were gifted runners on base by three of Quebec's fielding errors.
With the victory, RHP Jordan Kurokawa improves his season record to 6-3. He's received the victory in five of his last six starts - his last loss was a 1-0 defeat to Quebec on June 14 at Stade CANAC.
The Champions are fortunate to get back onto a winning note right before a crucial four-game weekend long series begins against Trois-Rivieres. The Champions will try to rally back from a recent seven-game skid and continue upward momentum toward a playoff spot.
Game 1 of the Aigles series is Thursday, July 19, and will begin at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for every Champions home game can be purchased at ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office or by calling the Champs at 613-745-2255 (BALL).
