Bibee Fires Six Scoreless But Harrisburg Gets to Ducks Pen to Win 5-2

Summary

Tanner Bibee tosses six strong, but the Harrisburg Senators used a big seventh inning off the Akron RubberDucks bullpen to come from behind with the 5-2 win on Wednesday night at Canal Park. Cleveland Guardians outfielder Oscar Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a single and run scored in his second rehab game.

Turning Point

After being shutout for the first six innings, the Senators offense finally came to life in the seventh. John Nogowski and Wilson Garcia each recorded hits before a walk to Justin Connell loaded the bases. Isreael Pineda promptly unloaded the bases with a grand slam to make it 4-2 Harrisburg.

Mound Presence

Tanner Bibee got the start for Akron and was perfect for the first four innings. After a one out single in the fifth broke up the perfect game bid, Bibee retired five of the next six Senators to end his night. In total, Bibee tossed six scoreless allowing two hits while punching out four. Randy Labaut followed allowing five runs. Thomas Ponticelli followed with three scoreless.

Duck Tales

Akron got on the board first in the fourth inning. Oscar Gonzalez led off the inning with a single before Micah Pries reached via the hit by pitch. Chris Roller brought both home with a double into the left-center gap to make it 2-0 RubberDucks.

Notebook

Gonzalez is now 1-for-5 with two runs scored, a single and a walk in two rehab games...Second straight game Jose Tena has started the bottom of the first with a hit, which is also his 85th hit, tied for fifth in Eastern League...Daniel Schneemann extended his seven-game hitting streak, which is tied for longest active on the team...Game time 2:23...
