Bethlehem Steel FC Signs Winger Michee Ngalina
April 25, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Philadelphia Union II News Release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Bethlehem Steel FC announced today that club has signed Michee Ngalina (pronounced Me-CHEE Gah-LEAN-ah) to his first professional contract. The winger joins the club after a trial with Steel FC and will occupy an international spot. The move is pending league and federation approval.
"I feel so happy to sign with Bethlehem Steel FC because it makes a dream of mine a reality," Ngalina said. "Ever since I was 10 years old, my dream has to become a professional soccer player and to make it happen now is just special."
"Very excited to get another talented 18-year-old guy," Bethlehem Steel FC head coach Brendan Burke said. "He's an exciting wide player that we hope brings some finesse to the position. He has the work ethic so far from what we've seen in training and will add to the group immediately. We understand there will be a learning curve but we hope that curve ends with the first team."
Ngalina joins Steel FC via the Democratic Republic of the Congo native after coming to the United States and prepping at The Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy (S.I.M.A) in Orlando, Florida. While back in his hometown of Kinshasa, he earned a call up with the U-17 National Team, competing in the 2016 Central African Football Federations' Union (UNIFAC) where he was the leading scorer for the Leopards.
Ngalina joins Steel FC ahead of the club's April finale against defending USL Cup Champions Louisville City FC on Saturday, April 28. Kickoff from Louisville Slugger Field is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
