Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans announced Thursday, that defenseman Mike Berube and goalie Rejean Beauchemin have been returned to Allen from Texas and San Antonio of the American Hockey League, respectively, in time for tonight's battle against Wichita.
Mike Berube, who went to training camp with the Texas Stars in September, is back with the Americans after playing five games with the Stars on this call-up. Berube has played in 29 games this season with Allen and has 9 points (2 goals, 7 assists), and is a plus eleven.
The return of Berube now gives the Americans a solid blue-line to go along with Dylan King, Joshua Hepditch, Trevor Hendrikx, Tyler Ludwig, Scott Langdon, and Matt Register.
"Mike Berube gives us added depth," said Head Coach and GM Dwight Mullins. Berube is expected to make his return to the Allen lineup tonight.
Beauchemin has had two call-ups to San Antonio of late. Rejean was the Goalie of the Week in the CHL last week, and has the top numbers in the league with a 1.98 GAA and a .932 SV%
The Americans also signed former Columbus Blue Jackets second-round draft pick, Adam Pineault, to a contract. Pineault played three games for Columbus in 2007-08. He has played in 201 games at the American Hockey League level with Syracuse and Rockford, scoring a combined 101 points. Pineault was a teammate of Bruce Graham, Joshua Hepditch and Christian Gaudet in Junior Hockey at Moncton.
The Americans host the Wichita Thunder this evening, at the Allen Event Center, in a battle for the top spot in the Berry Conference. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. The Americans have won the last two games against the Thunder, and have taken six of a possible eight points against Wichita this season.
The Americans also put three-time CHL All Star Bruce Graham on IR yesterday, after the forward suffered a lower body injury in the Americans win over Tulsa last Saturday night.
