Bernier Gets The Call From The Kings

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have recalled goaltender Jonathan Bernier from the Monarchs under emergency conditions, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Bernier will join the Kings in Dallas today where they take on the Stars tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. (ET).

Bernier, 21, has not played for the Kings this season. He has played in 50 games with the Monarchs, recording a 26-18-5 record, a 2.08 goals-against-average, a.937 save percentage and eight shutouts.

Among AHL goaltenders, Bernier's 26 wins are ranked fifth, his eight shutouts are ranked first, his 2.08 goals-against-average is ranked third and his.937 save percentage is ranked first. In addition, his 2,941 minutes played are second in the league and he leads the AHL in saves with 1,517 saves and in shots faced with 1,619 while also serving as the starting goaltender for Team Canada at the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic.

Selected by the Kings in the first-round (11th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Bernier played in four games with the Kings in 2007-08, recording a 1-3-0 record and a 4.03 goals-against-average.

The 5-foot-11, 184-pound Bernier is a native of Laval, Quebec. With the Kings, he wears No. 45.
