Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that import defensive end Daved Benefield has re-signed a one-year plus an option contract with the club. Financial terms were not released.
Benefield is entering his 13th CFL season and second with the Roughriders. Last year, Benefield finished the regular season with 39 defensive tackles, five tackles for losses, two interceptions, and four quarterback sacks. The 37-year old also stepped up in the playoffs, recording five defensive tackles and a quarterback sack in two games. He was also named Lineman-of-the-Week in the Riders' win over Edmonton in the Western Division Semi-Final.
"Daved brought a lot of heart and leadership to our team last year," stated Rider head coach Danny Barrett. "We wanted to keep the same group of defensive linemen together that led the league in quarterback sacks last season."
