GENEVA, Ill. - Scoring early and often, the Beloit Snappers opened up a big lead en route to a 7-2 victory over the Kane County Cougars on Sunday night at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, evening up this crucial four-game series at one apiece.

Aaron Brooks (3-6) couldn't work around a first-inning error by Dean Espy as JD Williams reached and scored on a sac fly by Miguel Sano to give Beloit (29-21) the early advantage. Two innings later, Jhon Goncalves ripped a double to knock home Sano and Adam Bryant, putting the Snappers up by three.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Cougars (27-23) connected with the scoreboard as Orlando Calixte punched out a two-run tater off starter Jason Wheeler (6-1). Wheeler didn't allow much else as he limited the Cougars to just those two runs on five hits over eight innings of work. Kane County only had one other man reach third base as Justin Trapp got there in the eighth inning.

Brooks surrendered nine hits in five frames while coughing up four runs (three earned). Beloit picked up a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to put the contest out of reach. Adam Bryant singled home Eddie Rosario in the fifth. Nate Roberts and Rosario each picked up a run batted in during the sixth inning while an Edul Escobar throwing error allowed Williams to come home.
