Dayton, Ohio - The Beloit Sky Carp scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the Dayton Dragons 4-1 on Saturday night. A crowd of 7,783 was in attendance at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District.

The Dragons loss dropped them out of first place in the Midwest League's East Division. Dayton is now tied with West Michigan for second place, one game behind Fort Wayne.

Both teams got outstanding pitching over the first nine innings. Dayton starter Chase Petty struck out five over four innings, allowing one run on three hits with one walk. Brooks Crawford followed Petty and worked three scoreless innings. Zach Maxwell entered the game to start the eighth and kept Beloit from scoring as the game eventually went to extra innings.

Beloit scored on an infield single that drove in a run in the top of the first inning, and the Dragons tied the game in the third. Dayton's Edwin Arroyo lined a hit in front of the center fielder with two outs to drive in Tyler Callihan from second to tie the game.

The Dragons had a great chance to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth. With one out, Jack Rogers lined a double high off the right field fence, and Rogers advanced to third on the same play when the relay throw was wild. But Rogers was stranded at third. Callihan popped out to the shortstop for the second out, and Arroyo lined out hard to right field to end the inning.

In the top of the 10th, Beloit scored a run against Maxwell who allowed two hits and a walk in the inning, and departed with two outs and the bases loaded, down 2-1. Reliever Owen Holt replaced Maxwell and got ahead of Beloit's Ynmanol Marinez 0-2, but Marinez lined the third pitch of the at-bat into left field for a two-run single to make it 4-1. The Dragons could not deliver a hit in the bottom of the 10th.

Dayton finished with five hits. No player had more than one. Arroyo, Rogers, and Ruben Ibarra each had a double.

Notes: Maxwell hit 101 mph with his fastball many times during his outing, bringing a reaction from the fans as the velocity was displayed on the video board. The team record is 102 mph by Hunter Greene in 2018.
