Bell Strikes out 11 But Riders Fall 4-2

FRISCO, TEXAS (May 21, 2015) - The Frisco RoughRiders (14-26) split the four-game series with the Midland RockHounds (21-19) as the Hounds took a 3-1 victory on Thursday night. Chad Bell struck out a career-high 11 batters for the Riders but took his second straight loss.

The southpaw worked five innings giving up three earned runs and walking only one. Midland got on the board early as Chad Pinder reached on a lead-off double and later scored on an RBI-single off the bat of Ryon Healy to make it 1-0.

Hounds starter Chris Lamb worked three scoreless innings in his fourth start of the season. He allowed no runs and struck out five in the no decision effort.

The RockHounds added two runs in the top of the fourth. Renato Nunez led off with his second home run of the series and later an RBI-single from Bruce Maxwell scored Jaycob Brugman to make it 3-0 Midland. Frisco cut into the lead in the bottom half of the fourth. After a single, Drew Robinson stole second base and was then batted in by a single from J.T. Wise making the contest 3-1.

Kyle Lotzkar pitched two innings of scoreless relief for the Riders allowing only one hit. Midland reliever Jonathan Joseph pitched three innings of one run ball while earning his second win of the year.

Frisco outfielder Nick Williams found the other side of the fence as he knocked his seventh home run of the year in the eighth inning to make it 3-2 as the Riders attempted the comeback. Midland answered right back as Healy shot his third homer of the year into right field giving the RockHounds a two run lead. The 4-2 score would hold as Ryan Dull earned his second save of the season, pitching two innings of scoreless, one-hit ball for Midland as they split the four game series with the Riders.

Frisco heads to San Antonio for a four game series with the Missions. RHP Jose Leclerc gets the start for Friday's 7:05 p.m. game. The Missions send RHP Chris Smith to the mound. The RoughRiders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark on Tuesday, May 26 for a six-game home stand against Springfield and Tulsa.
