GLENS FALLS, NY -- Hugo Belanger scored two goals and added an assist, and Sylvain Cloutier added three assists, to lead the Adirondack Frostbite past the Danbury Trashers 4-2 in front of 3,338 fans at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
The Frostbite got off to a quick start, opening the scoring just 2:19 into the first period. Mark Hurtubise's initial shot was stopped by Sylvain Daigle, but David Moccia swooped in and poked the rebound home for his fifth goal of the season, extending his scoring streak to six games.
Danbury pulled even with a power-play goal at 6:51. David Hymovitz took a pass from Jeff Daw at the center point and rifled a shot past Kris Tebbs for his 29th of the season.
But, Adirondack went back on top before the period ended, as Greg Koehler one-timed a shot past Daigle from the high slot at 19:25 to make it 2-1.
Hymovitz scored his second of the night 2:41 into the second period to pull Danbury even once again, but Belanger answered with a power-play goal at the 6:55 mark to give Adirondack a 3-2 lead through 40 minutes.
Belanger scored an insurance marker with 3:04 left in the third period, beating Daigle on a breakaway, to set the final.
With the win, the Frostbite move to within eight points of the Trashers for first place in the Eastern Division with three games in hand.
Adirondack travels to Danbury on Sunday for the back end of the home-and-home series. Face-off from the Danbury Ice Arena is at 5:30 p.m., with coverage starting on WCKM 98.5 with the pre-game show at 5:10.
