Bekar & Mapletoft Reassigned To Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the reassignment of Left Wing Derek Bekar and Center Justin Mapletoft to the team by the big club. Bekar and Mapletoft will join the Sound Tigers for today's 4:05 p.m. home game versus the Hershey Bears at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard.
Bekar has 14 goals, four assists, 18 points and 30 penalty minutes in 34 AHL games with the Sound Tigers and has appeared in two NHL games with the Islanders this season.
Mapletoft has four goals, six assists, ten points and 12 penalty minutes in ten AHL games with the Sound Tigers, as well as one goal, three assists, four points and six penalty minutes in 22 NHL games with the Islanders this season. He was on an eight-game scoring streak, with three goals and six assists, when the Islanders recalled on November 4th. Mapletoft's point streak is the longest, active run in the AHL.
