CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (6/27/12) - The Burlington Bees (37-38, 5-1) returned to their winning way when they defeated the Cedar Rapids Kernels (34-42, 2-4) 10-to-7 on Wednesday. The win meant the Bees have won four consecutive series and second of the second half.

After only scoring one run in Tuesday's loss, the Bees' offense responded by stealing the show in the rubber match. The Bees scored their first run in the top of the second after Rashun Dixon walked to lead off the inning and scored on an RBI- triple by Max Muncy.

Muncy's triple simply bounced over the first baseman's head and quickly rolled all the way down the right field line. Muncy later scored on an RBI single by Doulas Landaeta. Landaeta's base hit was the 350th of his career. The Bees allowed a run in the bottom of the second and trailed 3-to-2 heading into the third.

Rashun Dixon gave the Bees a great performance on Wednesday night. The slugger blasted a majestic two-run home run over the left-center field wall to give the Bees a 4-to-3 lead in the top of the fourth. Overall, Dixon went 1-for-3 with two runs, RBIs, and walks. His home run was his fifth in one month with the Bees.

The Bees scored four more runs in the top of the fourth that started with a home run from Nick Rickles after a long at bat. Rickles' solo-home run was his fifth of the year. Wade Kirkland followed with a one-out single and advanced to third after a stolen base and a throwing error by the catcher.

With two outs, Chih-Fang Pan popped up to the shortstop, but Trevor Hairgrove dropped the ball in shallow left. Eliezer Mesa hit an RBI-single into center field to score Mesa.

The Bees kept the pressure on by scoring three more runs in the top of the fifth. The first three batters reached with singles to load the bases. Kirkland struck out, but Sean Jamieson hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field that scored Bobby Crocker. Two more runs scored on a double by Mesa. Mesa went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a double in the win.

The Bees scored ten runs between the second and fifth inning. They needs all the runs they could get because the wind howled over the center field wall on a hot day in Cedar Rapids. The two teams combined for four home runs.

Max Perlman (1-3) labored through 4.2 innings and pitched admirably through the first four. Unfortunately the allowed four runs in the fifth and finished the game with seven earned runs and allowed the Kernels to hit safely 11 times. The right- hander also allowed back-to-back home runs by Trevor Hairgrove and Frazier Hall in the fifth.

Drew Tyson and Jeff Urlaub did their best to relieve Perlman. Tyson (2-0) pitched 3.1 hitless innings and earned his sec- ond win of the year. Urlaub earned his third after pitching a scoreless ninth.

The Bees travel to Kane County to start a three-game series on Thursday night. For information on Bees baseball call (319) 754-5705 or visit www.gobees.com.
