Burlington Bees News Release
Burlington, IA (August 26, 2010) - Alex McClure belted his first pro home run and Hilton Richardson drove in four in the Bees' 10-3 win over Wisconsin on Thursday night.
Though Hunter Morris homered in the first off of starter Keaton Hayenga, the Bees quickly regrouped to score in each of their first five trips to the plate. McClure's bomb followed a Whit Merrifield single to put the home team up 2-1, and Richardson picked up the first of his two two-run singles in the second to extend the lead to three.
The first four Bees banged out hits to open the third, including RBI singles from Jose Bonilla and Jake Kuebler. Ben Theriot doubled and scored on a double play to make it 7-1. The Bees added three more over the next two innings to push the lead to nine.
Hayenga (W, 2-12) earned his first win since May 19 with six solid innings of three-run baseball. The righty allowed six hits and walked only two without the benefit of a strikeout. Five Bees - Richardson, McClure, Kuebler, Bonilla, and Carlo Testa - led the offense with two hits each.
The Bees can earn a series victory tomorrow in the season's final matchup between the two teams. After the game, enjoy the final fireworks show of the season courtesy of J&M Displays. Also, sport your team colors with pride on Iowa-Iowa State Rivalry Night!
