Today's Game: The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Silver Hawks (affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks) in the second game of a three-game set. Season Series: South Bend 6, Dayton 1. (At South Bend: South Bend 4, Dayton 0).

Last Game: South Bend defeated Dayton 7-4 in the first game of the series on Wednesday. The Silver Hawks scored in six of the eight innings in which they batted, led by Victor Estevez, who reached base four times, going 2 for 2 with three runs batted in. David Nick hit a solo home run for South Bend. Dayton starting pitcher Daniel Corcino had his first rough outing, allowing five earned runs in four and two-thirds innings to suffer the loss. Dayton had eight hits. Didi Gregorius had two to give him his third straight multi-hit game. Henry Rodriguez extended his hitting streak to 10 straight games, going 1 for 4. Mark Fleury had two hits for Dayton.
Today's Starting Pitcher: Ricky Bowen hopes to earn his second straight win tonight as he makes his 14th start of the season. Bowen last pitched on Saturday vs. Lake County (5.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO, win). Bowen has made five starts in August, going 1-4, 9.86 (21 IP, 42 H, 26 R). He began the season in extended spring training and joined the Dragons on May 25. Bowen was selected by the Reds in the 43rd round of the 2009 draft out of Mississippi State University. After signing with the Reds last summer, Bowen logged just 14.1 innings, going 0-2, 6.28 with Billings (Pioneer League). Bowen went 2-3, 8.44 at MSU as a junior in the spring of 2009. Bowen, 23, is a native of Jasper, Alabama.

* Henry Rodriguez has hit safely in 10 straight games, going 17 for 38, .447, to raise his batting average to .302. He is batting .332 since June 1 to raise his batting average from .260 to .302. He is hitting .335 in the second half to lead the team.
