Bees Open Series At Quad Cities With A Victory

Davenport, IA - The Burlington Bees picked up their second road victory of the season on Tuesday afternoon by defeating Quad Cities 5-2. Jason Taylor hit two homeruns while Eduardo Paulino pitched six scoreless innings to lead the Bees to the victory.

The Bees began the scoring in the top of the second inning when Taylor led off and hit his first homerun of the day. After David Lough and Clint Robinson were each walked by Quad Cities starter Andres Rosales, Zach Evangelho singled to give the Bees a 2-0 lead. Taylor again led the inning off with a homerun in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 3-0.

Taylor continued to be a big part of all the runs being scored for the Bees on the day. In the sixth inning, he led the inning off by walking. He then stole second and third base before scoring on a passed ball to make it a 4-0 game. The Bees finished their scoring in the seventh inning. With one out, Adrian Ortiz and Antonio Jimenez both singled. Mike Moustaks then walked to load the bases for Taylor who was hit by a pitch. In all, Taylor went 2-2 with three runs scored and three RBI. Ortiz also had two hits. The River Bandits did add two runs in the bottom of the eighth against Chris Chavez who was making his debut for the Bees.

Bee starting pitcher Eduardo Paulino was very good. He went six innings allowing no runs on five hits with five strikeouts. He picked up the win and is now 1-2 on the season. Yensi Lopez pitched the ninth and did not allow a run en route to his first save of the season.

The Bees will be looking for the series win on Thursday evening. First pitch is set for 7:00 and the game can be heard on 1490 KBUR. The Bees return home to Community Field Friday night for a weekend series with South Bend.
