Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (August 22, 2010) - Late bullpen struggles made Sunday afternoon's game more of an adventure that the Bees would have liked, but the home squad came away with an 8-5 victory over Beloit on Sunday afternoon.

With the Bees leading by six, Mitch Hodge battled through a ninth inning that saw the Snappers touch him up for five hits, all singles, en route to three runs. Prior to the game's final pitch, Beloit had the tying run at the plate in the form of team home run leader Danny Rams, but the catcher bounced into a double play to give the Bees their second win in their last three games.

The Bees never led by fewer than four after scoring four in the third inning against Snappers southpaw Edgar Ibarra. The inning's biggest blow, a two-run double to right center, came off the bat of backstop Ben Theriot and gave the Bees the 4-0 advantage. Earlier in the frame, Jake Kuebler drove one home with a sacrifice fly, and Tim Ferguson scored on a wild pitch.

Elisaul Pimentel (W, 10-6) notched his first win since coming to the Royals organization after winning nine games with Great Lakes. The Dominican righty tossed six shutout innings of two-hit baseball, walking four and striking out three.

Carlo Testa led the Bees with three hits, and Theriot and Hilton Richardson had two. Matt Morizio picked up his first hold with an inning and two-thirds of scoreless relief with three strikeouts.

The Bees and Snappers take the field for Dollar Monday presented by Miller Lite on Monday night. Enjoy dollar hot dogs, popcorn, and Pepsi products, as well as one dollar general admission tickets for students and seniors and two dollar passes for everyone else. Gates open at 5:30 with first pitch cracking the mitt at 6:30.
