Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Four TinCaps pitchers combined to allow just one unearned run in a 3-1 win over the Lansing Lugnuts, Sunday at Parkview Field. The victory cuts the TinCaps' magic number to seven.
Fort Wayne is now 16-5 in August and is a season-high 17 games above the .500 mark.
RHP Jerry Sullivan took a no-decision despite only allowing an unearned run on three hits and no walks while striking out two in five innings of work. RHP Allen Marona went two scoreless and Jackson Quezada and Miles Mikolas finished it out, each delivering a shutout frame.
Lansing got out to a lead thanks to a TinCaps error. Jake Marisnick reached on a dropped infield popup, stole second and scored on Brad Glenn's RBI single.
The TinCaps tied the game in the third when Jedd Gyorko drew a bases-loaded walk. In the sixth, Everett Williams smacked an RBI single to give Fort Wayne the lead. Jeudy Valdez followed with a sacrifice fly to make it a 3-1 game.
Marona (1-1) picked up the win in his Parkview Field debut; Lansing RHP Brian Slover took the loss. Mikolas grabbed his ninth save.
