Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees (41-43, 4-6) fell to the Sacramento River Cats (40-44, 6-4) 8-1 on Friday night.
Both starters were dealing early, keeping a scoreless game through the third inning. The Bees loaded the bases in the third but could not get a run across before Sacramento loaded the bases themselves and then cleared them to score three in the fourth frame and another in the fifth. Salt Lake would get a run back in the seventh as Jared Oliva knocked in Chris Okey from second after a ground rule double, but Sacramento extended their lead to seven with a homer in the eighth and two in the ninth.
Trey Cabbage went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double in addition to stealing his 24th base of the year to slot him in a tie for third on the league leaderboards, just four bags behind PCL leader and teammate Jordyn Adams. Okey was solid at and behind the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double on offense and earning his 17th caught stealing of the year on defense to tie him for second most in the league.
The Bees return to action tomorrow at Smith's Ballpark on Marvel Defenders of the Diamond Night, the fourth of six games in their series with Sacramento. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
