Salt Lake Bees News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - In a back and forth game, the Salt Lake Bees ultimately fell short, losing 7-3 to the Sacramento River Cats Friday night at Smith's Ballpark.
The Bees briefly lead 3-2 following a 2-run homer by Chris Carter in the sixth inning. The blast was Carter's 12th of the season, breaking a tie with Jabari Blash, who did not play Friday, for the team lead. However, the River Cats would retake the lead on a three-run home run by Chase d'Arnaud in the seventh. Sacramento would add two more insurance runs in the eighth to seal the deal.
Despite the loss, David Fletcher extended his consecutive on-base streak to 30 games with a first inning double. Carter and David Ackley were the only Bees with multiple hits with two apiece. Adam Hofacket (5-1) picked up his first loss of the season in the defeat while Sacramento's Dereck Rodriguez (4-0) received credit for the win. Parker Bridwell got the start for the Bees in his first game off the disabled list. Bridwell gave up one run over three innings.
Salt Lake will hit the field again Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. at Smith's Ballpark. The evening will be dedicated to those who have been affected by cancer as the team celebrates its annual "Pack the Park Pink" night. The team will be dressed in pink uniforms with the name of a person who has been impacted by the disease on the back. Pink Bees t-shirts will also be available for sale for just $5. Tickets are available at slbees.com.
