Bees Fall to Late Rally

The Salt Lake Bees took the lead in the top of the first inning for the second straight game, but they fall to the Las Vegas 51s 7-4 on Wednesday night.

Bo Way delivered a one out double and scored on a single by Matt Thaiss. Las Vegas grabbed a 2-1 lead on solo homers in the fourth and fifth innings, but the Bees tied it up in the sixth. Thaiss led off with a triple and came home one out later on a single by Jose Miguel Fernandez. The 51st took the lead in the bottom of sixth, as they took advantage of a bad hop grounder that could have resulted in an inning ending double play and scored two runs later in the inning. Both runs were unearned off of Jeremy Rhoades (5-4), who was charged with the loss.

Salt Lake starter Griffin Canning went four and two-third innings and allowed two runs on four hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Riley Unroe led the Bees' eleven hit attack with three hits, including two doubles, and one run batted in. Thaiss and Fernandez each added two hits and one RBI, as the Bees drop to 1-5 on their current road trip.
