Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake Bees battled the visiting El Paso Chihuahuas to extra innings but El Paso came out on top with an 11-10 win in front of a sellout crowd of 14,511 at Smith's Ballpark on Wednesday night.

The two teams traded blows all night with Salt Lake taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning on three consecutive doubles to start the game but El Paso would battle back to make it 5-3 after five innings. The Bees would come back with five runs in the sixth including a three-run homer by Ben Revere. The two teams would be locked at 8 going into extra innings with El Paso scoring one in the top of the ninth and the Bees would tie it back up with a leadoff double from Taylor Ward to score the extra-innings runner but Salt Lake would load the bases with nobody out and not be able to drive in the winning run. El Paso scored two in the 11th and the Bees would get one across, but could not come back. Ward finished the game with four hits, including three doubles, while driving in three. Jose Suarez got the start for Salt Lake allowing three runs in four innings of work.

The sellout crowd of 14,511 was the Bees third of the season and was the second-largest crowd in Minor League Baseball on Wednesday and larger than two Major League crowds for the holiday game. Salt Lake and EL Paso will play four more games this series with firework postgame on Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are available at www.slbees.com.
