Bees Can't Finish Comeback

(Cedar Rapids, IA) The Burlington Bees staged a comeback on Saturday night but were unable to hold off the Cedar Rapids Kernels, dropping game two of a three game series by the score of 7-6.

Cedar Rapids jumped out to a 4-0 lead on the Bees' when Chad Christensen smacked a two run homer, extending the Kernels' lead to 6-0.

The Bees got on the board in the seventh, when Eric Aguilera tripled in a pair of runs, cutting the deficit to 6-2. Later in the inning, Aguilera came home to score on a Brandon Bayardi single and the Bees trailed 6-3.

Trailing 6-4 in the ninth inning, Mike Fish and Eric Aguilera homered back-to-back, tying the game at six.

The Kernels were able to push across a run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a bunt single and an error that allowed Mitch Garver to score, winning the game for the Kernels, 7-6.

Kernels' reliever Hudson Boyd (4-1) picked up the win while Ben Carlson (1-1) was charged with the loss.

The Burlington Bees (37-31) wrap up a three game series with the Cedar Rapids Kernels (31-38), Sunday at 2:00 PM. Victor Alcantara makes the start for the Bees against Ethan Mildren of Cedar Rapids.
