June 25, 2019 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Burlington Bees News Release
Burlington beat the Quad Cities 9-0 in a rain shortened game. By the time the sky opened the Bandits had gone through three pitchers in just four innings of play.
Jordyn Adams started the home first with a walk. He moved to third on a Kevin Maitan single to center and scored on Francisco Del Valle's double down the right field line. And the rout was on.
Nonie Williams singled, scoring Maitan and Del Valle. Spencer Griffin drew a walk. Justin Jones walked to load the bases. Harrison Wenson followed with an RBI base on balls. The Bandits made a pitching change with the score 4-0 Bees. After a Bees strikeout, Connor Fitzsimons took a 2-1 pitch out of the yard to right-center to make the score 8-0 Burlington. Kevin Maitan collected his second single of the inning before it ended.
Williams singled to open the second, was balked to second and scored on a Jones single to righ-center. That made the score 9-0.
Quad Cities put a runner on in the third inning. They had second and third with two out in the fifth, but could not push a run across.
The rain came mid-fifth. After a short delay the game was called official.
Kyle Tyler threw all four innings for the Bees, in what goes down as a complete game shutout. He allowed four hits, walked two and struck out one.
Williams and Maitan were both two for three. Williams had two runs batted in. Fitzsimons had four with his slam.
