Burlington Bees News Release
Burlington, IA (July 28, 2011) - The Burlington Bees, Iowa National Guard, Shottenkirk of West Burlington, Anytime Fitness of Mt. Pleasant, and Fleck Sales/Miller High Life are proud to announce that Iowa National Guard Night will take place on Saturday, August 20th when the Bees take on the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 6:30pm at Community Field.
All currently serving Iowa National Guard soldiers and their significant other are invited to attend that night's game for FREE. A ceremony honoring the soldiers will take place prior to the game.
Fans will be able to enjoy several Iowa National Guard vehicles at the ballpark that night, including a Humvee. A fireworks show will follow the game sponsored by Fleck Sales/Miller High Life.
Bees players and coaches will be wearing camo-style jerseys that can be purchased through a silent auction during the game. Each jersey will be autographed by the player/coach who wore it. All proceeds for the jersey auction will go to the English River Outfitters Resort in Tipton, IA, a resort to help disabled veteran soldiers adjust back to a normal life through a positive outdoor experience, fishing, hunting and campfires.
"We are very excited and honored to be hosting an Iowa National Guard Night," said Bees General Manager Chuck Brockett. "With many guardsmen and women recently returning home from overseas, hopefully they can come out and enjoy a relaxing night with their family and friends."
