Omaha Beef News Release

Last Saturday, in front of 5,182 screaming and zealous fans, the BEEF entered the history books as they defeated the Sioux Falls Storm 34-18. The win ended the Storm's 40-game winning streak. The BEEF's offense rode the wave created by a massive defensive surge that left the Storm begging for mercy. Diezeas Calbert intercepted two Terrance Bryant passes, returning one 30 yards giving the BEEF excellent field position, which enabled them to score and go ahead for good. As a result, Calbert was named United Indoor Football's Defensive Player of the Week. BEEF quarterback James McNear had a solid game throwing completing 11 of 19 passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns. The win was solidified when BEEF safety Dustin Creager intercepted a Bryant pass with 52 seconds remaining in the game giving the Storm their first loss since July 15, 2005. Ironically, the streak began with a 51-41 Storm win over the BEEF on July 30, 2005. This weekend, the BEEF welcome the RiverCity Rage to the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Revenge will be on Omaha's mind as they fell just two weeks ago to the Rage 36-18 at The Family Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Fans are encouraged to get there early and experience the BEEF Boardwalk with games, inflatables and entertainment for the whole family.

MASCOTS INVADE OMAHA FOR SATURDAY'S GAME

At halftime of Saturday's game, regional and national mascots will be playing in a mascot football game. Leading both teams at quarterback will be the 2007 UIF Mascot of the Year, Sir Loin, who will be celebrating his ninth birthday on Saturday. Miles from the NFL's Denver Broncos and Viktor the Viking from the Minnesota Vikings will be the honorary captains for the game with the rosters being filled by Herbie Husker, Homer of the Lincoln Saltdogs, McGruff the Crime Dog and other local area mascots. In addition to the mascot game, the first 1,000 kids through the turnstiles will receive Sir Loin mascot hats.

BEEF PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY EVENTS LAST WEEK

Last Friday, members of the Omaha BEEF helped Skate Daze kick off their "Skate a Million Miles" campaign. The "Skate a Million Miles" campaign is a nationwide event reaching out to kids to lead healthy lifestyles. The overall goal for the event is to skate one million miles in six weeks. The BEEF participated as a component to the "Get Lean With the BEEF" campaign. Attendees of the event had the opportunity to get up close and personal with their favorite players, Prime Dancers and Sir Loin. In addition to skating, during last Saturday's game, BEEF fans had the opportunity to help out the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For just $1, fans could purchase paper airplanes and were given the opportunity to throw them in the bed of a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck. If fans made their airplane in the bed, they will be invited back to the BEEF's June 14th game for one final toss to try and win the truck. Also, last Sunday, the BEEF held a "Meat the BEEF" event at Bones, Brew and BBQ. Fans had the opportunity to meet and greet with players, Prime Dancers and Rump Roasters. Each of the groups also signed autographs for the fans in attendance.

BEEF's PRE-GAME MEAL TO BE AT TEXAS ROADHOUSE

Thanks to a sponsorship from Texas Roadhouse, the restaurant will be the official home pre-game meal of the Omaha BEEF. Last Saturday, players, coaches and staff enjoyed the first pre-game meal. Members of the Prime Dancers and Sir Loin made special appearances and were available for pictures with fans. The BEEF will lunch at Texas Roadhouse before every home game, beginning at 2:30 p.m. If fans are interested, please stop by 520 N. 155th Plaza (156th and Dodge).
