Bedard's Return Keys Pats over Hitmen

Regina, SK - The Calgary Hitmen finished their four-game Saskatchewan road trip today in Regina against the Pats.

Special teams fell in favour to the Regina Pats scoring three power play goals and two shorthanded in a 6-2 win over Calgary. Scoring was opened up by Regina's Connor Bedard on the power play, who made his return to the WHL after winning gold at the World Juniors.

Alexander Suzdalev and Tanner Howe would add two more markers on the man advantage in the second period giving Regina a three goal lead. Jacob Wright found the back of the net at 13:14, putting Calgary on the board heading into the third period.

Bedard added another one for Regina early in the third but it was answered two minutes later by Carson Wetsch for Calgary's second goal of the contest. Short handed, Bedard would round out a hat trick and add a fourth to make the final score 6-2 for Regina.

Calgary outshot the home team through three periods, with shots finishing up 44-27.

Calgary now has a full four-day break before returning to action on home ice against the Swift Current Broncos on Friday, Jan. 13. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome for SpongeBob SquarePants night. The first 1,500 fans in the 'Dome where doors open at 6:00 p.m. will receive a scratch card to win a prize from the Hitmen, RE/MAX, or a discount at the FanAttic. Hitmen players will wearing SpongeBob SquarePants themed jerseys that will be auctioned off in an online auction with proceeds to Alberta Children's Hospital.
