ICE Doubles-Up on Portland

17-year-old Zach Benson scored three goals and assisted on one of Matthew Savoie's two goals in the game as the Winnipeg ICE beat the Portland Winterhawks 6-3 Sunday at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.

Benson's second hat-trick of the season helped the ICE improve their record to an Eastern Conference leading 29-5.

Carson Lambos rounded out Winnipeg's attack, who had a 2-0 lead after the first period and a 5-1 advantage through 40 minutes.

Ryan McCleary, Robbie Fromm-Delorme and Marcus Nguyen replied for Portland (26-6-2-1)..

The Winterhawks outshot the ICE 41-32.

Daniel Hauser earned the victory in goal while Dante Giannizzi suffered the loss.

Both teams went 0/3 on the power play.
