Regina Hosts Calgary in Bedard's Return to Brandt Centre

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats host the Calgary Hitmen at 4:00 p.m. in Connor Bedard's return to the Brandt Centre on Sunday, presented by Save on Foods.

The Pats are coming off a 6-0 loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday night, as the club dropped their third straight contest. Kelton Pyne made his second start of the season and first on home ice, allowing six goals on 34 shots. The final shots were 34-28 for the Thunderbirds, but 15-5 for Regina in the third period. The Pats went 3-4 on their penalty kill and 0-4 on their power play in the defeat.

Meanwhile, the Calgary Hitmen are coming off a 2-1 shootout win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday night, as they end their four game Eastern Division road trip today. The Hitmen tied the contest just over five minutes into the third period with Riley Fiddler Schultz scoring his 21st of the season to tie it. In the shootout, Zack Funk scored the winner, giving Calgary their 21st victory of the season. The final shots were 44-36 for Calgary and 9-4 for the Hitmen in overtime. They went 1-5 on their power play and 6-7 on their penalty kill.

The Hitmen have now won three straight games coming into today's game, with all of their victories over the course of the first three games of this road trip (8GF-4GA). Prior to this streak, Calgary had lost their last two games, with both of them to Red Deer (4-1 & 5-3).

HEADLINES

Today marks Connor Bedard's first game at the Brandt Centre since November 12, 2022 where the Pats came away with a 6-2 win over the Red Deer Rebels, and Bedard had two points (1G-1A). His last game with Regina was the end of a successful Western Canada road trip where the Pats went 5-1, as he last played for the Regiment on December 4, 2022, scoring five points (1G-4A) in a 8-2 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Bedard missed 11 Pats games. The club went 4-7 without Bedard in the lineup and 14-12-1-1 with him in the lineup.

The Pats traded 2003 F Easton Armstrong to the Winnipeg ICE for 2005 D Omen Harmacy on Saturday. Armstrong totaled 22 points (13G-9A) in 39 games this season for the Pats while Harmacy tallied three assists in 30 games with the ICE this year.
