Beckman's Hat Trick Secures Win for Panghli in First Career Start

Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - A hat trick from Minnesota Wild prospect Adam Beckman and a two-goal effort from Eli Zummack loomed large Wednesday night and helped rookie goaltender Manny Panghli secure his first Western Hockey League win in the first start of his WHL career.
Playing their first game since team activities were suspended on April 17, the Americans came out firing, connecting for the game's first goal at 4:39 of the first off the stick of Sasha Mutala. The Chiefs answered late in the period when Eli Zummack slammed home a rebound that deflected off of Tri-City netminder Mason Dunsford at 16:15.
Following an Americans score just over one minute into the second, the Chiefs rallied back with a goal from Beckman, his 10th of the season, before Zummack picked up his second score of the night. The 20-year-old capitalized on a power play add gave Spokane the 3-2 lead at 10:25. A defensive lapse late in the period allowed Tri-City to tie things at 3-3 headed into the second intermission.
A Tri-City slashing penalty late in the third period proved costly as Beckman snapped home a Zummack feed from the left circle to give Spokane the 4-3 lead at 17:05. An empty netter at 19:58 locked up the hat trick for Beckman and put the stamp on the 5-3 victory.
Panghli finished the night 33-of-36 in net for the Chiefs, who went 2-for-5 on power play chances on the night. The Americans were turned away on their lone power play chance. The rookie netminder from Kamloops, B.C. was placed on the Chiefs' protected list in December and signed a standard player agreement in February.
