
Beck, Black Transferred to Charlotte

The Birmingham Barons and Chicago White Sox have announced that RHP Chris Beck and INF Dan Black have been transferred from Class AAA Charlotte to Birmingham. In a corresponding move, C Luis Sierra has been placed on the disabled list. Roster at 25.
Beck made his Triple-A debut last night for the Knights, picking up the loss against the Louisville Bats after allowing five runs on five hits over 4.2 IP. He entered the 2014 season ranked by Baseball America as the No. 9 Prospect in the White Sox organization. In 15 starts this season with the Barons, Beck has gone 3-6 with a 3.43 ERA (33 ER/86.2 IP).
Black, 26, returns to Birmingham after beginning the season with the Knights where he hit .246 (33-for-134) with five home runs, 17 runs scored and 14 RBI in 38 games. On May 29th, Black went 4-for-4 with three home runs, four runs scored and seven RBI against the Columbus Clippers. He was placed on the disabled list after the game and was activated prior to being transferred to Birmingham.
As a member of the Barons in 2013, Black hit .290 (130-for-449) with 17 home runs, 28 doubles, 70 runs scored and 83 RBI in 133 games. He led the Southern League in walks (91), ranked second in RBI and on-base percentage (.411), tied for third in average and fifth in slugging percentage (.470). He was named to the Southern League mid and postseason All-Star teams and helped lead the Barons to their 14th Southern League Championship.
