Beavers Place Carrillo On Disabled List, Reinstate Stauffer; Laforest Outrighted To Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers today placed right-handed pitcher Cesar Carrillo on the disabled list with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his right arm and reinstated right-handed pitcher Tim Stauffer from the disabled list. Additionally, the San Diego Padres outrighted catcher Pete Laforest to Portland.

Carrillo, 22, is 0-2 with a 8.62 ERA (15er, 15.2ip) in five starts with the Beavers this season. In parts of two seasons with Portland (2006-07), Carrillo is 0-2 with an 8.35 ERA (17er, 18.1ip) in six starts.

Stauffer, who was placed on the disabled list with a sprained left ankle on April 21, is 0-0 with an 11.88 ERA (11er, 8.1ip) in five relief appearances with Portland this season. In four seasons with the Beavers (2004-07), Stauffer, 24, is 16-20 with a 5.09 ERA in 60 appearances (53 starts).

Laforest, 29, batted .313 (5-for-16) with one double and an RBI in six games for the Padres this season. His contract was purchased from Portland on April 12 when catcher Josh Bard was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a left groin strain. Laforest is 24-for-128 (.188) with seven runs, six doubles, one home run and 11 RBIs in 50 major league games with Tampa Bay (2003, 2005) and San Diego (2007). With the Beavers this season, Laforest is batting .111 (2-for-18) with one home run and two RBIs in five games.
