April Showers Bring May Mustaches

Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, CA- During the month of May, the males of the front office staff of the Fresno Grizzlies will be growing mustaches all in the name of charity. All donations and proceeds from "Mustache May" will go directly towards the Junior Grizzlies program.

This light hearted competition kicked off May 1st and will end on May 31st at the Grizzlies Thirsty Thursday game. May 31st will be Mustache Appreciation Night and prizes will be given in the following categories to front-office members: Best in Show, Most Money Raised for their Mustache, Best Tom Selleck Look-Alike and Most Pathetic. The awards will be called the "Bochy's," in honor of Bruce Bochy, the formerly-mustached manager of the San Francisco Giants.

Baseball and mustaches go hand in hand, much like peanut butter and jelly. Whether it's Don Mattingly, Keith Hernandez, Sal Fasano or Rollie Fingers, there is no mistaking that mustaches belong in baseball. The Fresno Grizzlies are encouraging all their fans to sport a mustache during the month of May as well.

There are many ways for the fans, friends and family of these mustached men to support the Junior Grizzlies. The mustachioed front-office staff will be petitioning for cash during games at a donation table, and each staff member has their own donation page set up at www.juniorgrizzlies.org.

Junior Grizzlies is a baseball league for kids with physical and mental disabilities in Central California. The Grizzlies Community Fund is currently building a Field of Dreams for Junior Grizzlies at Herndon and Sunnyside in Clovis. The field is estimated to cost $400,000. The Grizzlies Community Fund is fundraising through a variety of events, including Mustache May, for Junior Grizzlies.
