Nashville Sounds News Release

NASHVILLE - The Nashville Sounds will host a kickoff luncheon for their 2007 Purity Faith Nights series on Tuesday, May 8 at Rocketown, located at 401 6th Ave. South in downtown Nashville.

The 11:30 a.m. luncheon, which will be attended by leaders of church groups from throughout Middle Tennessee, will focus on the past, present, and future of the immensely popular Faith Nights program, including the formal unveiling of this season's concert lineup.

Rocketown was chosen as the luncheon location to showcase one of the new Faith Night sponsors for the 2007 season. Rocketown is a skate park, coffee bar, and concert hall that provides a safe, alcohol and drug free environment for youth to enjoy concerts, classes, video games, and skateboarding. The facility was completed in 2003 thanks to the support of Michael W. Smith, one of the biggest names in Contemporary Christian Music who has sold more than 13 million records and has had 29 #1 hit songs.

Smith will participate in Tuesday's luncheon as will Sounds general manager Glenn Yaeger and the team's Director of Faith Nights, Ryan Bennett.

The Sounds' Faith Nights program has a strong history of philanthropic support. The team and its fans have built three Faith Houses in the Nashville area in conjunction with the Habitat For Humanity program as well as provided a clean well to a village in Kenya, Africa through a joint venture with multi-platinum Christian recording artist Jars of Clay's Blood:Water Mission.

On Friday, August 10, Smith and the Sounds will host a Rocketown Faith Night that will feature local Christian artists. One dollar from every church group ticket sold for that event in addition to collections made by the team during the game at Greer Stadium will be donated to Rocketown and its mission.

Also in 2007, the Sounds have again partnered with Jars of Clay's Blood:Water Mission non-profit organization to attempt to raise enough money during the June 1st Faith Night to give an African community a well to provide them with clean and accessible water.

Last season's Blood:Water Mission Faith Night at Greer Stadium is believed to be the first known effort by a minor league team to reach out far beyond its community, region, country, and continent to make a difference in a community around the world.

Purity Faith Nights -- which were introduced by the Sounds in 2002 and enter their sixth season - have become a staple at Greer Stadium to the delight of families and church groups in Middle Tennessee, Southern Kentucky, and Northern Alabama. Purity Faith Nights feature Christian concerts, fireworks, personal faith stories by Sounds players, and, of course, a fun night at the ballpark.

On each of the Faith Nights®, pre-game concert will begin 15 minutes after the gates open. The opening concert will last approximately 30 minutes and will be followed by a personal faith story by a Sounds player. A headlining concert act will then take the stage until the ceremonial first pitch.

Church groups of 20 or more can purchase tickets for this special night for only $10. The ticket price includes admission to the concert, reserved seat for the game, hot dog, 20 oz. soft drink, recognition of the group over the public address system and on the scoreboard, and a fireworks show. Some Faith Nights include additional giveaways.

The 2007 Purity Faith Nights series has expanded to include nine dates, including six Friday evening games (May 18, June 1, June 22, July 13, July 27, August 10), two Saturdays (June 30, August 25), and one Sunday (June 3).

In 2006, Faith Nights continued to be an incredible success for the Sounds. More than 450 church groups attended games last season. The Sounds expect between 600-700 church groups to attend Purity Faith Nights this season.

Individual game tickets for Faith Nights of any other game may be purchased by calling the Sounds at (615) 242-4371 ext. 2, ordering through the official team website at www.nashvillesounds.com, or by visiting the Greer Stadium box office, located at 534 Chestnut Street.
