PORTLAND, Ore. - With their sights set on first place, the Portland Beavers were instead burdened with deuces Tuesday night against division-rival Edmonton.

The Trappers scored two runs in each of the first three innings and had twice as many hits to stay within a half-game of Salt Lake in the North Division with an 8-3 win over the Beavers in front of 5,916 at PGE Park.

Hodges led the way with three hits while Bergeron and Sledge each had three RBIs apiece for the Trappers (64-65).

Dennis Tankersley hit two batters and gave up six runs on eight hits as he matched his shortest outing of the season. Tankersley (7-11) lasted four innings, issuing three walks and striking out seven.
